How dreadful! And I will tell you why: <strong>TV is bad for your personal development<\/strong> &#8211; and here is why!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s take 4 hours as the mid-point number. Assuming 8 hours of sleep per day, people spend 25% of their time awake in front of their TV set. So here is a most basic but crucial advice for personal growth: Throw your TV away! Don\u2019t even think of giving this poisoned gift to someone you like. Just throw it away! Or put it on ebay and with the proceeds buy a pair of sneakers, tickets to a concert for your family, or a few good books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.goalmap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/book-reading.jpg?resize=750%2C420\" alt=\"book reading\npersonal development TV\" class=\"wp-image-83\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.goalmap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/book-reading.jpg?w=750&amp;ssl=1 750w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.goalmap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/book-reading.jpg?resize=300%2C168&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t own a TV, I don\u2019t have time for that. Life is too precious and I respect it too much for wasting it purposelessly. I want to design my own, not live it by proxy or get lobotomized by the idiot box. How many times have you said or thought: \u201cI would love to do this but I don\u2019t have the time.\u201d? If you watch TV, no excuse, you\u2019re just lying to yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"tv-is-gone-next-step-your-personal-development\"><\/span>TV is gone? Next step: your personal development!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the hours I save from the little demon, I invest in myself, I indulge in challenging and fulfilling activities. 4 hours a day is 28 hours a week, which is the time I need to learn a new language (3 hours a week), stay fit and prepare for a race (6 sessions or 8 hours a week), play guitar and sing (3 hours a week), meditate (1 hour), read books (3 hours) and work on a side project (10 hours).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are just personal examples. You can as well learn how to cook, write a blog, do yoga, spend quality time with your kids or engage in any other constructive activity. Push yourself and develop new skills. <a title=\"Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi: Flow, the secret to happiness\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/mihaly_csikszentmihalyi_on_flow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bring flow to your life<\/a>.
